Indean Head Massage

Indian Head Massage is part of the Ayurvedic Bodywork anti-ageing system from India. The healing traditions of India have much to offer us for our health and well-being. It all goes back to the enlightened sages of the past who developed and refined Ayurveda for the betterment of humanity. They realised that a healthy body is necessary for our happy progress through life, which can only be achieved if our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual dimensions are addressed as a unity. Their approach was holistic.Ayurveda, Tantra and Yoga are the ancient timeless life-disciplines that are inscribed in the Vedas in Sanskrit. In the spiritual evolution of man, Ayurveda is the foundation, Yoga is the body and Tantra is the head and first you have to understand Ayurveda in order to experience the practices of Yoga and Tantra. They provide the divine trinity of life (body, mind and spirit). Western medicine and thinking (cure) tend to generalise and to categorise individuality, so that the concept of normality, what is common in a majority of people, constitutes the norm. Ayurveda (prevention), on the other hand, holds that normality must be evaluated individually because every human constitution manifests its own particular and spontaneous temperament and functioning. In other words, we are all different.

The health of our body, mind and spirit depends on the knowledge and practice of all three in our daily lives.Almost every mother in the Indian sub-continent irrespectve of her religious belief has practised scalp massage, which has become both a customary and integral part of her family life. Using a variety of pungent oils, sitting on her manji (hand woven jute futon) outside in the warm air of one of the six seasons, she massages her family sitting in her lap or on the floor at least once a week.
